Welcome to Project Bloom
Project Bloom provides equitable & inclusive nature-based educational programs and community events that foster positive transformation.
Cultivating Change through the roots of education
experiences inform change
Project Bloom was sowed by Blooming with Birdie, an education company that enhances learning by creating immersive, engaging, educational experiences for classrooms and the community. Inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori, Blooming with Birdie believes that transformation is sparked by curiosity and fueled by immersive experiences that connect us to the moment and the world around us.
As the nonprofit branch of Blooming with Birdie, Project Bloom makes enriched educational experiences free for the community, classrooms, teachers, and students who need it most.

Project Bloom Projects:
Caterpillar Condos for Title I classrooms
In this month-long experience, students develop a special connection to nature as they observe the metamorphosis of a live Monarch Butterfly in their classroom.
Participating teachers are provided with a hands-on training at the Botanical Garden where they receive a milkweed plant with caterpillars, a digital Monarch Journal with access to four video lessons and the TEKS-aligned curriculum, and a citizen science project where students tag and release their monarch.
Now in it’s sixth year, this culturally relevant program has served over 23,100 students in 19-Greater San Antonio school districts with 99% Title-1 schools .
Monarch Butterfly & Pollinator Festival
The mission of the Monarch Butterfly & Pollinator Festival , now in its 10th year, is to celebrate and educate our community about monarch butterflies, pollinators, and the ecosystem that sustains both them and us.
Through hands-on, nature-based immersive experiences, the festival aims to inspire individuals of all ages to form deep connections with the natural world around them.
On festival day, over 40 mission aligned educational partners convene to provide hands-on, nature-based experiences for children and adults to over ten thousand attendees.
Support Project Bloom
Project Bloom was created to provide high quality educational programs and events at no cost to classrooms and communities.
Help us ensure nature-based, hands-on programming can remain accessible to everyone in our community.
